Research |
In
late 2003 a group of students from NTU business
school asked for iKMS' participation in a survey
on Singaporean perceptions of the competencies required
of a knowledge manager. This is their research report
with its findings - Singaporeans generally have
a good understanding of the role and competencies
of knowledge managers. But one interesting insight
leaps out: people who change jobs frequently are
more likely to be supporting of KM and knowledge
sharing, while long stay employees are less so!

Communities in Japan - A Case Study |
In
this fascinating paper on Knowledge Communities
in Japan originally written for Tech Monitor,
Dr Hideo Yamazaki, Director of the Knowledge
Management Society of Japan, shares his research
into the uniquely Japanese approach to knowledge
communities. It includes three interesting case
studies, and shows clearly how technology and
Asian culture continue to evolve and interact
in new ways, in what Dr Yamazaki calls "post-Nonaka"
Japanese KM.
