Topic:

Knowledge Management (KM) 101 - PROCESS : Workflows & processes to promote knowledge capturing and sharing

Description:

"Capture of knowledge is not the key to success - releasing it is! Knowledge must be released internally so it can be amplified, reapplied, reworked, and adapted for new contexts.”

Arthur Shelley, KRO Lead Evaluator, Author of Knowledge Succession

Quite often, knowledge capture and sharing occur rather incidentally in organisations, and it is often the result of an individual’s initiative to share insights that he or she might have uncovered. Hence, such insights are often left to chance which will be a heavy risk to bear as organisations increasingly need to be agile and adaptable in an increasingly VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex & ambiguous) environment.

Synopsis:

KM Process 101: Workflows & processes to promote knowledge capturing and sharing (7 hrs)

This introductory session on KM Process endeavours to share ways to embed KM principles into organisation processes and promote knowledge creation, capture, sharing and adaptation. Upon completion of KM Process 101, participants will be able to:

  • Describe different ways to embed knowledge principles into workflows/practices to enhance performance
  • Discuss ways to encourage knowledge behaviours as natural part of work
  • Modify current processes to better promote knowledge creation, capture, sharing and adaptation
  • Modify current processes to manage explicit and tacit knowledge from internal and external sources
